The North of England Sprint Rowing Championships: Results

The North of England Sprint Rowing Championships brought rowers from all over the country on Saturday (7 September) to Hollingsworth Lake.

Twenty seven rowing clubs attended the event with 420 crews racing in 59 different senior categories and 30 junior categories in eleven hours of racing.

Hollingworth lake Rowing Club topped the Victor Ludorum Senior Table but as the host club the prize is awarded to Tees who lay in second spot.

The Victor Ludorum Prize winner for the most successful Senior Club went to Tees Rowing Club. The most successful Junior Club for the third Championships in succession was awarded to Warrington Rowing Club.

Local rower Matt Harris claimed the Novice Single Scull title. Congratulations go to Matt who had his Tankard presented by the Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Peter Rush.

Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club would like to thank the Hollingworth Lake Activity Centre and Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club for their continued support throughout the Championships particularly at this sad time.

During Saturday’s event, a minute silence was held by 2,000 people in attendance as a mark of respect to the gentleman who lost his life at the lake on Thursday 5 September. Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club would like pass on their sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.
