Ruth Walczak in GB squad for Henley Regatta and World Rowing Cup III

Date published: 02 July 2014

Ruth Walczak from Healey, Rochdale, has been selected for the GB squad which will race in the Henley Regatta and World Rowing Cup III over the next month.

Ruth previously won a fine silver medal in the lightweight women’s single at the World Rowing Cup II in June.

Ruth will race in a new lightweight women’s quad with Brianna Stubbs, Eleanor Piggott and Charlotte Taylor.

GB Rowing Team Performance Director, Sir David Tanner, said: “We are pleased to race our top boats at Henley Royal Regatta in its 175th anniversary year with some of our top-line crews and we look forward to seeing how they race there before we take on, what looks set to be, another strong field at the world cup in the following week.

“We had some tremendous results in France at the last world cup and, whilst Lucerne hasn’t historically been the place where we shine the brightest, we are in good shape as a squad.”

The Henley Royal Regatta will take place on 2-6 July and the World Rowing Cup III will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland over 11-13 July.

To watch highlights from the World Rowing Cup III, tune into BBC2 on 14 July at 4pm.
