Kevin Metzger wins two gold medals for triple jump

Date published: 08 August 2014

Kevin Metzger, a former Cardinal Langley pupil, won two gold medals at the 84th English Schools’ Track and Field Championships on 11 July at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham and retained the title as number one for triple jump in England.

Kevin, 16, jumped a distance of 14.59m, beating his personal best and the rest of the competitors, and was crowned Triple Jump Champion 2014.

This is a significant improvement for Kevin, as he came eighth in the same competition last year.

Kevin also attended the Schools' International Athletic Board Track and Field International on 19 July in Cardiff, Wales.

Ronald Metzger, Kevin’s father, said: “Kevin is doing extremely well, and his athletic ability just keeps on improving. We’re very proud of his achievements.”
