Mayfield Preview

Date published: 11 September 2014

Mayfield go into their last game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Shaw Cross Sharks in Dewsbury.

This will be a tough game for Mayfield with the Sharks in fourth spot and looking to improve their position.

A win will keep Mayfield in with a slim chance of taking the title but that would require leaders Oulton losing at Ince Rose Bridge.

Ince's performance in last week's defeat at the Mayfield Sports Centre showed nothing that makes that look likely. Hence it looks like the Rochdale side will go up as runners up - still a great achievement for the club and testament to the quality of coaching provided by Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth.

Both coaches have also played a big part on the pitch adding their years of experience and  skill with both players being near the top of the scoring charts.

Saturday's game will be an opportunity for the team to show what they are capable of and they will want to go out on a high while hoping that Ince do them that unlikely favour.

Mayfield NWML side are also on the road with a trip to Woolston.

Saturday's opponents are one spot below them in the league having struggled throughout the season.

Dunc Simpson and Anthony Greaves will be hoping for a strong squad as they prepare for the journey and will be looking to register another win and start to climb the division with only a few games left.
