Central Lancashire Cricket League annual dinner

Date published: 17 November 2014

The Lake Garage Central Lancashire Cricket (CLC) League honoured retiring secretary Alan Wright during the league’s annual dinner at Littleborough Cricket Club on Friday (14 November). He was presented with an inscribed glass plaque by president Tom Williams, on behalf of the league, and he was made a life member of the Umpires Association (the first non umpire to receive this honour).

Alan will officially retire during the league’s annual meeting later this month. He has been league secretary since 1990 and was assistant secretary from 1973. Before that he was secretary of Ashton Cricket Club.

Another award went to current Rochdale Cricket Club secretary Alistair Bolingbroke who received the President's Trophy for services to club and league.

Heywood won Spirit of the Game awards at both first and second team level and Clifton’s Callum Parkinson was awarded the HL Vohra trophy as the CLL young player of the year.

Each year the Littleborough Supporters Club awards a trophy to the league’s best all-rounder. This year it went to Littleborough player Chris Schofield who also won the award for leading amateur run-scorer in the season.

Heywood’s Chris Kaye took the trophy for leading wicket-taker.
