Warrington Wolves train at Full Contact Performance Centre

Date published: 20 November 2014

Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club have started training at the Full Contact Performance Centre in Castleton.

The team will train at the centre once a week for twelve weeks during their pre-season.

Martin Stapleton, joint owner of the Full Contact Performance Centre, said: “We agreed to do some training with the team for a number of sessions and will be teaching them aspects of wrestling so things like balance and technique, rather than actual wrestling. There is no point in me teaching them Mixed Martial Arts because they won’t use it so we are doing things that they can use in their games.”

Martin will be focusing his sessions with the team on things like efficient movement, reaction time and recovery.

“This is a new approach to training for them so it is not about teaching them things they can’t and won’t use, it is about teaching them things that are really basic but that they can transfer to the game,” added Martin.

The team had their first session at the Full Contact Performance Centre on Tuesday (18 November).

Martin added: “The first session went really well. We had about 30 guys altogether and they really liked it. Obviously we’re working with them in pre-season so it’s nothing too dramatic but what we did went down well.”

The Full Contact Performance Centre will also be helping the team throughout their upcoming Rugby League season.

“For this season we are sticking with Warrington Wolves and helping them out,” said Martin.

The Full Contact Performance Centre has also played host to Wigan Warriors training sessions in the past.
