The Rochdale detachment of the Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force (GMACF) cadets have recently excelled in cross country and football.

Lance Corporal Megan Klymowec and Cadet Braidy McCormick attended the GMACF cross country trials and went onto represent GMACF at the North West Regional trials.

Lance Corporal Megan Kyymowec came fifth place in the junior girl’s race and Cadet Braidy McCormick came second place in the junior boy’s race.

Cadet Braidy McCormick came 17th place in the ACF Nationals at Warcop Training Area in Cumbria.

CSgt Debbie Callaghan from the Rochdale Detachment said: “Cadet McCormick’s placing was an amazing result, considering he was running against army cadets from all over the UK.

“It was a great day with the North West Region achieving third place for the junior girls, second place for the intermediate girls and third place to the senior boys.”

Cadet Jake Ankers, Lance Corporal Tyler Gregory and Lance Corporal Tyler Gibson, attended the GMACF football trials and were then selected to attend the North West region football competition at Altcar Training Camp, Merseyside.

The competition was also used as the trial for selecting the North West Regional Team to play at the ACF National Football Championship.

Cadet Jake Ankers and Lance Corporol Tyler Gregory were selected and went onto the ACF Nationals.

The North West Region covers Cheshire ACF, Merseyside ACF, Isle of Man ACF, Cumbria ACF, Lancs ACF and Greater Manchester ACF.
