Cobras going green

Date published: 15 May 2015

Local community rugby club, Rochdale Cobras are joining the Hornets and are ‘Going Green’ for their fixture against West Bank Bears.

The North West Men's league fixture takes place as a curtain raiser to the Hornets versus Oxford game and kicks off at 2pm (entry via main reception from 1.30pm).

Cobras coach and Hornets hooker Dean Mignacca commented: “We have just got a new set of jerseys which are predominantly yellow and the boys have been itching to wear them but with such a good cause to support we have agreed to Go Green and wear a green kit for our fixture against the bears.”

Cobras currently sit top North West Men’s league division four, winning six from six whereas the Bears have struggled this term.

The occasion may prove a leveller and Cobras Ben Boothman is expecting a tough encounter, he said:  “Complacency is our biggest fear. Whenever you come up against an A team from a stronghold like Widnes you have to be on your metal.

“They will have lads who can play and I’m sure they will have a few more given they have the chance to play at Spotland.

“It will be tough but if we play as well as we can we are confident of getting the win.”
