Salpietro unbeaten in Norden's T20 group win over Radcliffe

Date published: 18 May 2015

Daniel Salpietro rounded off a brilliant weekend when he scored an unbeaten 77 in Norden’s Tom Hardman T20 group win over Radcliffe, at The Racecourse, on Sunday.

Stags took first knock and lost Hashum Malik to a catch by Anwar Ul Haq with only two on the board, but Salpietro and Ash Gowers then produced a superb show.

They were helped in pushing the score along by some shocking fielding, but many runs were scored as their quick running between the stumps turned singles into twos.

Gowers looked set for a half century only to be given out stumped when on 42.

Steve Pimm then carried on the good work with Salpietro and scored an unbeaten 29 which included three fours off the last three balls of the 20 overs.

Stags finished on 159 for two and Radcliffe were never in the hunt once they had lost Raheel Majeed and Ul Haq.

Coates was first out in the reply when Steve Pimm aimed from between long off and long on and saw the ball miss the near stumps but hit the far set.

Majeed looked forceful, but with 28 on the board he smacked a Dean Lord delivery to Simon North at mid-off.

U Malik found the boundary five times in his innings, but he managed only two more before being caught by Simon Harman who stretched to take the ball above his head. Ur Rehman was bowled all ends up by Malik, and Ul Haq then hit long and high to be safely caught by Rehan Udwadia.

With him went the last Radcliffe hopes. Berry claimed a bright 27 before being bowled by Smith, but the home side fell further and further behind the rate due to some good bowling by Stags.

Steve Wild bowled four overs for only 16 runs, Dominic Humphreys had only 11 off him in two overs, and Rehan Udwadia went for only five runs in two.

Hashum Malik finished with three for 19.
