Date published: 22 July 2015

Mayfield's Aidan Gleeson continues his preperation for his upcmoing tour with the BARLA Lions as he holds a fundraising fun day at the Mayfield Sports Centre on Sunday.

Aidan has been selected for the tour to South Africa, after taking part in trial games and extensive training sessions.

The Lions will travel out on the 5 october and play three games over an eleven day period.

Mayfield chairman Simon Howe said: "We at Mayfield are extremely proud of Aidan's achievements. He has worked hard for many seasons to get where he is, he is a great role model for any youngsters in the amateur game who are looking to do well.

"Aidan has been at the club since he was about ten-years-old coming through the Mustangs and then playing academy, second team and now a starring role in the first team.

"He has had a fantastic season so far with his blockbusting style of running and Boom Town defence causing problems for all the top teams.

"I have no doubt he will impress in South Africa and give us more cause for celebration on his return".

Aidan has organised the fun day and has live music, face painting, raffles, inflatables and a tombola.

There will be food on and the club will be open for refreshments.

The fun starts at 1.00pm and goes on until 6.00pm on Sunday 26 July at the Mayfield Sports Centre.
