World Championship medals for Dojo Karate Centre

Date published: 31 July 2015

Fourteen members of The Dojo Karate Centre returned from the 2015 WOMAA World Championships with 59 medals.

Team Dojo performed excellently to return with 27 gold, 22 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Rick Ward won the Underbelt Grand Champion event.

Kai Sweeting was placed second in the -14 years Grand Champion event.

Club Coach Irfan Ansari narrowly missed winning the Black Belt Grand Champion event 0.01 to an American.

Sensei Ansari said: “With quite a few of the squad away on holidays, I’m really proud of our 14 members’ achievement, particularly the very young entrants, Alfie Lowndes, Chase Fernandez and Richard Reygan.

“It shows once again that our coaching methods are second to none as our members keep winning year after year at world championships.

“Our squad members not only excel on the mats but also in their education and home life due to the morals they learn and the helpful attitudes they acquire under our guidance.

“It is important for each of our champions to know that they are not solely responsible for their achievement as there is a whole team of people who prepare them for success ranging from parents, siblings, relatives, friends and coaches at The Dojo who sacrifice their own time and put effort into them achieving their goals of winning a medal.”
