Littleborough beaten by Bootle in Lancashire Cricket Board Knockout final

Date published: 07 September 2015

Littleborough’s bid to win the Lancashire Cricket Board Knockout failed in the seaside sunshine when they were beaten by Bootle in the final played at Blackpool CC on Sunday.
Boro had first knock in the competition supported by LWC, and they were soon in trouble with Joe Smith-Butler lbw for one and Gary Hulme caught for six.

Chris Schofield (54), Zimmy Khan (31) and Clinton Perren (50) helped them to a total of 182.

The innings was really wrecked when man of the match Chris Cunningham picked up his four wickets including three in five deliveries.

Cunningham had Zimmy Khan stumped, took a return catch from Chris Sc hofield, and had both Matthew Taylor and Joe Barnes caught.

Perren did his best to hold the innings together, and he was last man out.

David Snellgrove and Craig Prince gave the reply a solid start, but with 45 on the board Snellgrove was caught by Perren, Neil Williams was caught by Khan and Scott Butterworth was caught behind by Jamie Roche.

Greg Butterworth was next to go, caught by Roche, and when Prince was bowled by Khan it was 95 for five.

Boro sensed victory, but it was taken away from them by Michael Gill (32 not out) Will Purser who hit 39 before being bowled by Michael Burns, and Jackson Knight who was unbeaten on 25.
