Hamer Community Primary School

Our Math’s Consultant, Mr Reddy was in school this week. The focus was on Mathematical Reasoning and teachers and support staff benefited from demonstration lessons and a professional development staff meeting after school. Math’s remains such an important focus for school development and we thank parents for the support with Math’s learning at home as always.

The pop project performers, who have visited school with a number of musical themes, were in school again this week to bring to life the concept of “British Values” through performances and costume associated with national dress and the historical culture of the British Isles. The children were enthusiastic and enjoyed the experience very much indeed!

The Pupils and Curriculum Committee, made up of members of the Governing Body, were in school on Wednesday to complete a learning walk in the school. The School Governing Body is a key part of school leadership and, on your behalf; they hold the school to account for all school development. They fed back on the positive levels of engagement of the children and also helped to shape the future in terms of classroom displays to reflect more consistently some of our latest teaching and learning initiatives.

The NSPCC were in school on Friday 29 January to deliver an assembly on “keeping safe” with our Year 5 and 6 children. They went on to do safety workshops in class afterwards and the children were very engaged and mature in their participation.

All remaining balances for the Robinwood trip need to be paid at the school office or in class by next Friday 5 February. Thank you.

A representative from our nominated charity for this year will visit school to present us with our defibrillator on Monday 1 February. Both Hamer and Springside children will be there to receive this generous donation and, at the same time, we will hand over the money raised from the last non-uniform day we held.

Well done to Miss Weaver’s class for best attendance for week ending 22 January 2016.
Please can parents support us by ensuring that the children are on time and in school every day.

We have a vacancy for this key role on our Governing Body. If any parents wish to apply please contact the school office for an application form.
