St Peter’s School inspires a love of reading
Date published: 02 March 2016
Children and staff at St Peter’s Church of England Primary School have been celebrating the official opening of their new library.
They were joined for two days by acclaimed children’s author Adam Perrott who worked with all the classes and shared extracts from his books ‘The Odds’ and ‘The Odds Strike Back’.
Headteacher, Mr Aelred Whelan, was delighted, saying: “We have made it a priority at St Peter’s to encourage a real love of reading in all our pupils.
“The children are so excited with our new, state of the art, library which includes kindles, magazine and comic station, ‘Poetry Den’ as well as over 6000 hardcopy and electronic books.
“In addition having an award winning, local author working with the children has really inspired them and now so many want to write books, who knows we might have the next J K Rowling.’
