Once again students from primary schools in and around Heywood have enjoyed a sneak preview of what it will be like when they go to “Big School”.

Year 5 Students from Parkfield, St Michaels, Harwood Park and St Lukes enjoyed a day full of different activities including Food Technology, Drama, French, PE, Humanities, First Aid and many others.

Students sampled French delicacies in a French lesson, tried their hands at Cardiac Massage and Resuscitation in First Aid, designed a sports bag in Product Design and made Fruit Kebabs in Food Technology.

All students were able to take part in the lessons and along with teachers and teaching assistants from their school, all had a thoroughly enjoyable and very busy day.

Mel Fawcett, Primary Links Co-Ordinator at Siddal Moor said: “The Taster Days have been running for a number of years and are always very successful.

"The students get a feel for all the different subjects that they will encounter when they move onto senior school.

"It is hoped that the students that attended on the taster days went away with good memories and learnt some new skills.”
