School Summer break

School closed on Friday 18 July and will re–open to students on Wednesday 3 September. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents, carers and most of all our amazing youngsters who have again made this a memorable year for everybody at Redwood School. A huge thanks also goes to the staff for their commitment and dedication to provide a variety of learning opportunities and enrichment activities. Governors have also provided a enormous amount of support to the school in the year. I hope that everybody associated with Redwood has a great summer break.

Internship Graduation Evening

This week saw the inaugural Internship Graduation Awards evening at Riverside which gave the staff, governors, parents and members of the local community to celebrate the achievements of this group of students. It was a pleasure to listen to the many positive accounts of the students stories in the work place environments in Rochdale .I wish all those students the best for their future – you are amazing ambassadors for the school.

Sports Review of the Year

Thank you to parents and carers for your support at last week’s Sports Review awards ceremony. This is now a well established part of Redwood’s calendar and is very popular with all concerned. The awards to the students reflect their work to Achieve Personal Best in all aspects of health and well being in school. Well done to all involved.

A big thank you to Matt Hindle the Head of Music at Manchester Creative & Media Academy and the 11 GCSE Students ( years 10 & 11’s) who entertained us with popular songs during our summer Extravaganza BBQ Lunch. The group were amazing and everyone commented what a brilliant atmosphere the band brought to the occasion, they helped make the day very special for all our students and staff.

6th form has been celebrating Christianity and the Caribbean as part of our yearly cultural week. We have been enjoying the stories, music and foods of these cultures and traditions .

Two groups went out on visits. Group 1 visited St George’s Church in Rochdale and Group 2 went to Manchester Cathedral. Fun was had by both groups.

We also had two visitors from the Mormon Church. Elder Parry and Elder Dadds told us about life as a Mormon, what their beliefs are and also what football team they support.

Congratulations to all the Internship students who graduated this week.
