Teaching staff arrive in Ghana

2 teaching staff, Miss Searle and Miss Kowalski have arrived in Ghana for their visit supported by the British Schools Council. They travelled from Manchester to Heathrow, then on to Accra in Ghana. They will be teaching in a school in Kumasi. Miss Searle as a Humanities Specialist will be basing her lessons on life in the UK and the diversity of students at Falinge Park.

Miss Kowalski as a Science Specialist will be teaching a number of experiments to the students as an indication of Science lessons taught to British students.

Senfi High School have been very welcoming, providing a range of hospitality measures. Students at Falinge Park have generously provided a number of gifts for the students in Ghana. Two extra cases have been taken full of these gifts as a token of our relationship and partnership with the school in Ghana.

Urban Faith

The popular faith discussion group ‘Urban Faith’ recommenced this week with their weekly Wednesday lunchtime sessions in the Humanities Area. These will be supported by 2 new youth workers from Texas and Brazil.

Further Additional Science

Further Additional Science pupils are currently completing a project in which they are working for an environmental Science department with an electricity supplier.
As part of the recent celebration of the European day of Languages, the winners of the T Shirt competition are: Carly Creagan, Malaika Ali, Dylan Colclough, Zara Khan, Jasmina Khatun, Subhaan Ali and Samairah Riaz.

wth Mindset

As part of a day developing Growth Mindset and habits for lifelong learning, Year 7’s took on a boat building challenge. Working in teams, they designed, built, tested and improved boats made from simple materials to hold as much weight as possible. The challenge was inspired by British Design Engineer James Dyson.

Songwriting Club

Well done to the members of the Songwriting Club who recently achieved Arts Award bronze qualifications over the summer holidays. The students earned the award over the course of the year through the creation of a special portfolio which evidenced their progress and development as artists and practitioners. Drama Club

Congratulations to the members of Drama Club who successfully undertook the Arts Award Bronze qualification this year. The award was also earned over the course of the year through the creation of a personal portfolio, evidencing their progress as actors and theatre practitioners. Several of the learners are now undertaking further study in Drama and are considering going on to study their Silver Arts Award qualification.
