Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 14 November 2014

We are pleased to announce with the sale of the wristbands and donations for coming to school in nightwear or superhero outfits we have raised £410.00. What a fantastic achievement from everyone in school, well done you should all be very proud of yourselves.

Our Road Safety Week begins on Monday and please remember to expect our Pupil Car Park monitors to be on patrol to keep our car park safe. We know parents will be extra careful to park safely and only use the blue badge parking area if they are in possession of a blue badge. Thank you.

There are now a number of Hamer children who have chickenpox at the moment. Please can parents watch out for any signs of itchy spots and high temperatures and visit the Doctor or walk in centre if you have any concerns. Children must be kept at home until they are no longer contagious to avoid more cases where possible.

On Wednesday this week, the community cohesion ambassadors from Marland Hill came to Hamer to meet with our own ambassadors. The children identified the top characteristics and skills of successful citizens in the ideal community. Miss Mullane and Mr Moore were so proud of the wonderful values that children from both schools demonstrated.

Thank you to the children of the Foundation Unit who did an amazing assembly all about their topic of clothing, in which they showed their fashion design and modelling skills!! Remember, Foundation Stage parents will soon be able to buy the t-shirts the children created for £2.

We have booked a health trainer on Friday 5 December. 9am to 11am to visit school and all Hamer parents and families are welcome to have their weight and blood pressure checked. Please take advantage of this free service. And remember health is wealth!

Where possible, appointments for the children must be made outside of the school day. The only appointments that are allowed to be taken in school time are medical appointments for specialist treatment where you are given fixed appointment time by letter, or emergency treatment.

Last half term, 42 appointments were made during the school day, resulting in children missing vital teaching time and this figure is too high

Please remember that we have once again arranged for Bag 2 School to take place at school. This is an ideal opportunity to sort through your wardrobes and cupboards and donate unwanted clothes, shoes, hats, belts handbags and soft toys. (no bedding, curtains and household linen can be accepted).

Bag2Bag will be collecting from school at 9am on Friday 28 November 2014.
