Pupils in the Lilac group have begun CHRISTMAS……. The Christmas cake is made and ready for decorating over the next couple weeks.

Year 7 Green have enjoyed making Tortilla (Spanish Omelette) in Modern Foreign Languages. This group have also continued with their peer to peer massage programme led by Mrs Friel. So far they have learnt the Owl, Giraffe, Seal & Lion techniques. They are all very relaxed after every session.

8/9 Blue have used the ear models to explain how we hear and can now name all the parts of the ear.

8/9 Purple have used the solar system fact cards to add lots of information from their planets research.

Last Thursday, the Lilac group got VERY MESSY making chocolate reindeer lollies. Nazmeen in particular enjoyed the trying of the melted chocolate.

Pupils in 8/9 Yellow helped to decorate the Key Stage 3 Christmas Tree as part of their maths lesson on colour and shape.

Year 7 Yellow have been continuing to work on the theme of Andy Goldsworthy in art; this week they used clay and made patterns in it then turned them into Christmas tree decorations.

KS4
As part of their accreditation the ALG Group and Cook and Eat Team held a coffee afternoon in aid of Rochdale Dog Rescue. They worked really hard and raised £62. It got really busy.

SEB students went to the All-In-One garden centre this week to look at the Christmas Lights and buy some gifts for their family and friends. They all had a lovely time and Jacob did a very good job of paying the lady at the till.

Bridging Year are making lovely gift bags filled with quality sweets to sell to raise money for the KS4 Prom. We are sending boxes out of the bags out to local businesses with an honesty box. If you know of anywhere that can take a box or you would like to purchase some yourself please email Dawn at dawn.alletson@redwood-school.com or ring on 01706 750 815.

KS5

The intern students have this week broken the record for most money raised for the Springhill Hospice Charity at our weekly charity car wash. The previous record stood at £29.00 for the day but the students raised a whopping £42.00 after washing nine cars in total. Customer feedback was excellent with one lady praising the students for their ‘nice manners, professionalism and customer care’. Well done to Sandra, Kerys, Nathan and Tom S.

In Music, we listened to English Pop through the decades, starting with The Beatles. On the way through to 2014, we sang and played along to Wham. The Spice Girls and Oasis, (And even some Leo Sayer and Gilbert O’Sullivan.)

We were very lucky to have Karen from St Clement’s Church and John Alker lead students in some Christmas Carols with a choice of mince or apple pies after.
