Congratulations to the Oulder Hill Year 9 Basketball team who are now champions of Rochdale and will go on to represent Rochdale at the Greater Manchester School Games. They were undefeated throughout the tournament and beat St. Anne’s 9-7, Falinge 9 -4 and St. Cuthbert’s in the final 10-6.

The players involved were: Matthew Greenwood, Hayden Lewis, Jordan Parkhill, Marcus Welsby, Bailey Turner, Ethan Creswell, Damien Green and Jack Turner. Player of the tournament was Damien Green for outstanding team work.

The Year 7 Girls’ Football team completed their fixtures last week in driving sleet and high winds. They played their remaining four fixtures, winning two and drawing two. They now advance through to the Super 6 Competition, after finishing third in the League, to be held early next year. A huge well done to: Rachael Goulding, Ellie-Jane Howarth, Eve Thornsby, Keeva McCann, Keri Barlow, Brooke Strudwick, Rebecca Harrison and Summer Baro.

Here at Oulder Hill, we are participating in the Key 103 Mission Christmas appeal. Form 10A have pledged themselves and their classmates to raise 1000 toys and £1000 in cash for the appeal which supports disadvantaged children across the Greater Manchester area.

If you know any of our pupils and would like to help with the appeal, please pass them new, unwrapped gifts for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers aged from 0-18 years. It could be anything, of any value. The point is, it will make somebody’s Christmas. Thank you for all of your support.

Year 11 students completing the IGCSE English course will be assessed on their Individual Speaking presentations between 26th and 29th January 2015, worth 20% of their final grade. Students will receive a personal time and venue for their assessment in due course. Please encourage your son or daughter to use their time wisely and ensure preparation is underway. Thank you, Mr Lynch.

School reopens at 8:30am on Monday 5th January 2015. We hope you all have an enjoyable, relaxing break, and we look forward to welcoming all students back to school refreshed and ready to learn.
