Happy days for Springside School with theatre visit

Date published: 17 January 2015

The children of Springside School in Rochdale are currently celebrating after being gifted a theatre performance by Happy Days Children’s charity.

Children from Springside School will be watching a performance of Cinderella when M&M Productions visits them on Monday 19 January providing the children with a fantastic fun filled day.

A spokesperson for the school said: “M&M productions come in quite regularly to do things with us and the children really enjoy it. We try and include the mainstream school which is Hamer Primary School in the things that we do and everyone is really looking forward to the day.”

Springside School came into being after the closure of High Birch, Birtle View, Alderman Kay, Innes and Rydings special schools bringing staff and primaryaged pupils together from each school and putting them in a new ‘state of the art’ purpose built environment.

Happy Days Children’s Charity funds and organises respite breaks, residential trips, days out and visiting theatre performances throughout the UK for disadvantaged young people with special needs.

Happy Days Fundraising Manager, Rob Cox, said: “We’re a small charity but work incredibly hard to support kids with vital breaks and holidays, right across the UK. Since we started in 1992, we’ve helped almost 170,000 children with disabilities, life limiting conditions, children that have been abused and young carers, with the gift of happiness and hope that these trips provide.

“We rely on the generosity of the public and the work of our fantastic volunteers to make this possible.”
