Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 19 January 2015

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Safaida Bi has been appointed by the Local Authority to the Governing Body here at Hamer. We are really looking forward to working with another committed Hamer parent on the leadership team and we would like to extend a warm welcome and our congratulations to Safaida on her appointment.

The PE kit situation is improving, but once again we must remind parents that the children must have their PE kit in school every time they have PE including indoor pumps.
The children who attend lunchtime football coaching club, must also bring their pumps. If the weather is not suitable, the coaching takes place in the school Hall and ONLY indoor pumps may be worn in this case. Otherwise, the children will have to miss the session.

Year 6 Booster classes - Thank you to all children who have committed themselves to some early starts and late finishes putting in the extra effort to get the very best levels at the end of Year 6. We are so proud of our hardworking children and we just know the extra efforts will pay off. Thank you also to our supportive Hamer parents we really do appreciate you encouraging your children to attend these classes.

This week, a team of teachers and school leaders including Mr. Moore took part in an evaluation tour of our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit. It is always good to get feedback from other professionals and Hamer Early Years Unit was very highly praised by the evaluation team. Well done to our wonderful Nursery and Reception children and adults for being such an impressive bunch that we are all so proud of.

On Wednesday, the Community Cohesion ambassadors went to Marland Hill Primary School to work with our colleagues there. They had a presentation and question/answer session with two Magistrates who helped the group to understand the judicial system in the UK. They learned all about fairness and making decisions without prejudice being the most important values for a Magistrate to hold.
The children from Marland Hill and Hamer are working really well together on some very challenging themes.

Thank you to all parents who recently attended the information session about safeguarding. Please can parents complete the survey form sent home on Thursday and return to school as soon as possible as we value parents views.

On Tuesday Mrs Terry launched an exciting competition for the children to win a ‘Tablet ‘. There are two prizes to be won one for the Early Year Foundation and Key Stage 1 Units and one for the Key Stage 2 Unit. In order to have a chance of winning the prizes, the children will have to pass as many objectives on their Maths Passport as possible.
The more objectives they achieve, the more raffle tickets they will have entered in the prize draw. Winning tickets will be drawn at the end of term.

Once again we request that parents do not park in the disabled parking bays without a blue badge, not even to nip in. The school is taking advice from the police and local authority and, sadly, as a result of repeated pleas for the situation to improve and no improvements being made, we will have to explore other options to ensure that only those people who are entitled to, and need the spaces, use them. Mr Moore will keep you informed once future action is agreed. Meanwhile, CCTV is being used to record and monitor the situation.
