Sports for Schools Day

Everyone had a fantastic day during our Sports for Schools event. Thank you to Mr O’Leary for organising this. Please could you send your sponsor money into school by Tuesday 10 February, thank you. There are some pictures on the school website – look in ‘Events & Activities’.

Mid-Year Reports Parents of children in Y1 to Y6 will receive a report on their child’s effort, behaviour and progress next week.

The format for this report is different from the previous ‘Christmas Report’ last sent in December 2013, in that children’s levels of attainment are not reported. This is because the Department for Education has instructed schools to no longer use ‘Levels’ with the introduction of a new National Curriculum (NC) from Sept 2014. All schools are currently working on new assessment systems and will in due course be able to report to you how your child is performing in Reading, Writing and Maths, in comparison with the national expectation, and also the progress they have made this year.

There is a link to the detail of the new NC and further explanation on the ‘Home’ page of the school website.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers Once again we are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. Please ask your friends, relatives and colleagues for any vouchers they may have. Thank you.

Reading Morning for Parents & Carers During next week, we will be opening our doors to you to come into class and share some reading activities with your child(ren). Classes are open from 9.00 – 9.30am on the following mornings:

Reception – Wednesday 11th Y1 – Thursday 12th Y2 – Tuesday 10th Y3 – Tuesday 10th Y4 – Wednesday 11th Y5 – Thursday 12th Y6 – Friday 13th If you have more than one child in school and the days clash, it might be possible to spend 15 minutes in each class.
