Year 10 Boys’ Football Team

The Year 10 Boys’ Football Team recently played a match away at Matthew Moss, and won a close fought game in atrocious conditions 6-5.

The students showed an incredible amount of effort, desire and skill given so much was against them and they really do deserve credit.

Scorers on the night were Daniel Cryer (3), Brandan Coughlan (2) and Stephen Nairn. Team in full: Luke Straszewski, Owain Harrison, Daniel Cryer, Brandan Coughlan, Kristian Kean, Stephen Nairn, Dominic Boothman, Ben Howarth and Jamie Ogden.

Year 9 Boys’ Football Team

Well done to the Year 9 Boys’ Football Team who have reached the semi-finals of the Rochdale Schools’ Cup with a 6-3 win over Middleton Technology School.

Congratulations to the students involved: Daniel Madeley, Jordan Parkhill, Matthew Greenwood, Jack Turner, Thomas Booth, Deen Imran, Bailey Turner (1 goal), Dayne Stewart, Abdul Akram (2 goals), Thomas Tobias, Hakeem Gbajabiamila (3 goals) and Lewis Hamer. The team will now face St Cuthbert’s in the semi-final, we will let you know how they get on.

Year 8 Boys’ Football Team

The Year 8 Boys’ Football Team were recently defeated in the Cup competition by Cardinal Langley. All the students who represented the school made their coaches proud.

The team was made up of: Ethan Haworth, Muzamil Bashir, Connor Roscoe, Aadam Latif, Joe Golden, Gavin Nyoni, Saif Zulfiqar, Haaris Farooq, Max Taylor, Sulayman Qadir, Zakariyya Choudhury and Zaki Bowden.

Year 7 Boys’ Football Team

Congratulations to the Year 7 Boys’ Football Team who defeated Kingsway Park 7-0 in the Rochdale Schools’ Football Cup competition.

The players involved were Joseph Oldham, William Strudwick, Christian Carney, Ethan Steel, Dylan Stott, Maxx Wright, Connor Marrow, Dion Parker-Minchin, Lucas Dowd, Ryan Marshall, Cameron McGhee, and Bailey Mills.

Man of the match was Dion Parker-Minchin for a brilliant solo goal in which he took on two defenders and then smashed the ball into the top corner.

Dream Job competition

Year 11 students are invited to enter the Greater Manchester Colleges Group (GMCG) Dream Job competition. The GMCG is made up of the ten major colleges in Greater Manchester, who are working together on a project to raise awareness of the opportunities that apprenticeships can provide.

The competition will support ten students, one from each area within Greater Manchester, be placed as an apprentice in their dream job. The ten winners will also receive a grant of £250 to support them with equipment that they may need to get started.

To enter the competition, applicants must write in no more than 500 words what their Dream Job is and why. For full competition terms and conditions, please visit www.gmcg.ac.uk/dreamjob. Students can visit Lynsey Lovelock, our Careers Advisor, in the LRC with any queries.

Parent Forum

The next Parent Forum meeting will be held in the LRC on Tuesday 24 March, starting at 6:00pm. New and existing members are welcome to attend.

Fumed Oak

On Wednesday 25 March, Year 11 GCSE Drama students will be showcasing Fumed Oak, a one act black comedy, by Noel Coward in the Gracie Fields Theatre from 6:30pm until approximately 8:00pm.

Drinks and nibbles will be served in the LRC from 6:00pm. Entry is free, and all students under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Trip to Normandy

21 students from Years 7 to 10 are going on a residential trip to Normandy, France from Thursday 26 to Tuesday 31 March.

During their visit, students will be staying at Chateau Beaumont and will take part in activities on site (including fencing, archery and team games) and will also spend a day at Euro Disney. We hope they have a brilliant time.

Fashion Show

The Parent Forum are hosting a Fashion Show on Tuesday 31 March in the school’s Sports Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the show starting at 7:00pm.

Tickets cost £3.00 each, including either a glass of wine or soft drink. Tickets are available from Mrs Corlett at school, and must be purchased in advance. For more information about the show, please contact Mrs Corlett.
