Well done to our students who have participated in the Rochdale Festival of Music and Performing Arts over the past two weeks. We have been absolutely delighted with your achievements and students have walked away with some great results. Congratulations to everyone who has taken part. We have been updating the results on our school website on a weekly basis. For more details, please see Mr Lancaster and Ms Williams.

Mr Lawlor and Mr Butt held a special intensive Year 11 catch-up session for Art Photography students this Saturday from 9.30am until 2.00pm to give selected students time to develop their portfolio work. Please speak to Mr Lawlor if you need more time to work on your art work. Well done to all the students who attended. Thanks to staff for giving up their time.

Well done to those drama students who attended the Oldham Coliseum theatre visit to see ‘Forever Young’. The piece was thought-provoking and very contemporary. Thanks to Mr Mvula, Ms Moore and Mr Wilcock for organising and leading the visit. An enjoyable evening was had by everyone.

Letters for our CALL visits to Liverpool have been issued several weeks ago and all students should have received a copy. Places are now filling quite quickly and we hope that all students can return the reply forms and money as soon as possible. For questions of further details about the visit, please speak to Mr De Courcey, Mr Ahmed or Mr Wilcock.

Our latest edition of the ‘Create’ Termly Arts Magazine is being released this week. Copies are available directly from group tutors, directly from school or from our website as a digital copy. For more details, please see Mr De Courcey.
Well done to the selected students who attended a special lunchtime banquet as a reward for extra-curricular commitments on specific projects this term. Our two ‘Youth Speaks’ representatives, Boys’ Dance Club and Company Class Senior Dance Group all attended the special luncheon and were served by Mr Ward and Mr Lonsdale. A superb meal was prepared by our kitchens and everyone had a great time. There will be more similar events in the future.

CALL Survival Homework Projects have been issued by CALL teachers and will be due to be handed in over the next two weeks. Please ensure they are returned to your CALL teacher before the deadline. See Mr De Courcey for more details.

Full Scripts of ‘The Odyssey’ were issued last week and students were asked to attend a special extended rehearsals session on Tuesday 24 March from 2.45pm until 5.00pm in the heartspace. At the session all students should have received a revised rehearsal timetable for ‘The Odyssey’. Tickets for our show which takes place on Friday, 24 April 2014 at 6.00pm are available from the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after school. Please see Mr De Courcey or Mr Ahmed for more details. Our website which features some of our work on the show and project to date can be found at www.the-odyssey.org

Tickets for our music show which takes place on Wednesday 1 April 2015 can be bought from the CEPA Office, priced £3.00 (no concessions). The show is titled ‘Ignite’ and features a range of musical styles and performances across the year groups. Rehearsals are now well underway. For more details, please see Ms Williams or Mr Lancaster.

Arts Award Club takes place on Fridays after school and is open to students from all years. The club members have been heavily involved in ‘The Odyssey’ show and as a result the club has been postponed until Friday 1 May. For more details, please see Mr De Courcey.

Finally, well done to 30 of our Year 11 students who attended a Presentation Evening at Rochdale 6th Form College last Thursday to receive their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and Certificate.
