Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 24 April 2015

The Bikeability team have been in school throughout the week, working with Year 5 on developing advanced skills and road safety awareness in relation to riding a bike. The event teachers have loved working with our children and commended their behaviour. Also The Citizens of the week ending 24 April 2015 was awarded to all the Year 5 children for being excellent ambassadors for our school during Bikeability, showing good behaviour, lovely manners and a keen awareness of road safety.

The Maths Stop has appeared on the red corridor to promote Maths and will change in focus throughout the year. At the moment, the focus is on problem solving and every fortnight, a new maths problem will be posted for each key stage. Please can parents encourage their children to have a go at these at home.

Foodbank Non Uniform Day will take place on Thursday 30 April the children have been asked to bring in a donation of a tin of food in return for a non-uniform day.

The first KS1 Maths club happened this week. With only 20 places available and 67 applicants we would like to thank everyone in KS1 who applied, showing such enthusiasm for Maths. Apologies for any disappointment and in the end we thought it fair to draw names out of a hat.

Hopefully, we will have more sunny weeks, when this happens can parents please remember to put sun protection cream on children and also send them in with a cap to keep them from harming their skin during outdoor time.

Thank you to the children who came in to work with Mrs Hoyle and Mr Khan during the Easter Holidays, putting in extra effort towards the SATS and also to contribute to the Hamer Gamers Computing Project.

A reminder to parents, please ensure that all children who attend any after school clubs or lessons are collected on time. Thank you.
