Beech House School

Dodgeball tournament

The Beech House u13 girls attended St Cuthbert's High School to participate in the Rochdale School Games Partnership U13 Dodgeball tournament.

The girls started off very tentatively with some anxious looking faces and in unfamiliar territory, they succumbed to a 3-0 loss.

The second game saw a much improved performance by all of the girls, particularly in their endeavour and effort, ensuring that we were on the right side of a 3-0 win.

This led into the final game of the tournament against the team who had won their two previous games.

However, should Beech House win, they would finish in first place, as it would go down to the head to head.

Unfortunately, a 3-1 loss meant that we finished in Bronze Medal position.

A great performance overall.

The girl’s team consisted of Fiza Ahmad, Alizay Choudhry, Daisi Daniels, Mia Greenwood, Sara Karim, Mehmoona Naqvi, Ellie Roebuck and Fiza Shari.

Basketball tournament

Hulme Hall brought a girls and boys u14 team to play a 'round robin' basketball tournament.

Beech House had three teams; 2 boys' teams and a girl's team. We played against each other in a league format with every team picking up points in the league stage. The two teams with the highest number of points then played off in the overall final.

After the League standings, Beech House Boys 'A' were top and Hulme Hall Boys were second, meaning the two teams played off against each other.

It was a tight affair in the group stages with only 2 points separating the teams in the previous match.

The game was played with outstanding spirit and desire, whilst retaining an excellent level of sportsmanship.

The final was again a very close game, with Beech House coming out on top 4 points to nil.

Well done to the winning team, which consisted of Archie Parnell, Rohan Young, Harvey Mondino, Abu-Bakr Hussain, Dawud Tahir and Owais Shakir.

Top Trumps competition

The Top Trumps competition drew to climax this week with Joseph Bingham, Dylan Gaucas, Jamal Naseer, Thomas Stott and Aliasghar Abbas contesting a hard fought final.

The eventual winner was Thomas Stott who now enters the National competition.

David Okoro was awarded his Keyboard Level One this week.
