First ever GCSE results for Kingsway Park High School

Year 11 group students at Kingsway Park High School are the first cohort of students to to make their way through the school from year 7 and pick up GCSE results since the school opened five years ago.

16-year-old Soniah Ashfaq from Deeplish achieved five A*, four A and two B grades. She said: “I am really happy because I got what I expected. I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form College now and hopefully, one day, I will have a career in medicine but I’m not too sure yet.”

Misbah Ahmed, 16, from Belfield achieved one A*, five As and four Bs. Misbah is now going to college to study chemistry, biology and maths, along with best friend Taaibah Shakeel, 16, from Lowerplace.

Taaibah achieved three As and seven Bs and described getting her results as “euphoric.” She added: “I’m really happy. I’m going to Rochdale Sixth Form and will hopefully have a career in medicine.”

Syeda Begum received As and Bs in her GCSE exams and is now heading to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study chemistry, maths and biology. She said: “I’m happy. I was really nervous coming in because I didn’t know what to expect, but now I am pleased.”

Mashuda Begum achieved Bs and Cs in her exams and will be studying English literature, history and religious studies at college. She said: “I’m really happy. I am a bit surprised because I did better that I thought I would in some exams.”

16-year-old Niamh Kane from Rochdale achieved all A-C grades in her exams. She said: “I have done pretty well and I am happy with what I got. I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form College next. My time at Kingsway Park has been good.”

Mariah Bhatti achieved one A, two Bs, five Cs, two merits and one D and despite feeling slightly disappointed with her D grade, Mariah was happy. She said: “I am disappointed with my D because I did work hard for that one but overall I am happy.”

Mariah is now off to Bury Sixth Form College to study for her A-Levels.

Heather Adamfi was happy with her results this morning and will now be off to Hopwood Hall College to study uniformed public services and hopes to have a career in the Royal Navy.

Heather said: “I am happy with my results and now I can go and do uniformed public services. I want to have a career in the Royal Navy one day and travel the world, which is something I have always wanted to do.”

Abbie Blackstone will be moving to Scarborough to study at college after picking up her results this morning. She said: “I am really pleased and feel really good. I want to be a zoo keeper one day and that is something I have always wanted to do.”

Head teacher Deborah Ball said: “They are a pleasing set of results and we are really pleased for the students, a lot of who will now go on to college and further education.
“We are exceptionally pleased with the students and some students have gone away with 13-14 GCSEs and some did higher than they expected so we are really pleased.

“It is a team effort and every member of staff has contributed to today’s results.”
