Maths Wow day

On 9 November we had a Maths Wow day. The children worked on Maths problems in a fun way all day. This was a real success.

Wear it Pink – Thank you so much for your support for this day. The children looked brilliant and we raised £352.00 towards fighting breast cancer.

School Council

We have a brilliant school council who are always looking for ways to raise money and improve school. They have had the idea for a Christmas Wow day on Thursday 1 December. Children can wear a Xmas jumper or hat and bring in a £1.00 (if you wish) for school funds. There will also be a fun game to take part in that would only cost 50p. They are sending more information out soon.

Books and toys

If you are having a clear out before Christmas and want to get rid of any old toys and especially books, please send them our way. We are currently replacing home school reading books with beautiful new books, starting with Early years. Any books you send in will be used in class book corners, or to raise money for more home school reading books through a Bring and Buy sale, or for wet playtimes.

Election of Parent Governors;

We are delighted to have elected Mrs. Kate Aspin as parent Governor. We now have another vacancy for parent governor. We are inviting interested parents to nominate themselves or another parent to join our team for this important and fascinating role.

Being a parent governor is important and helps you to get involved in school life and have a say in what happens. There are three meetings of all governors each year as well as a number of subcommittee meetings. We have two main subcommittees; these are the Resources subcommittee which looks at Finance, Staffing and Buildings and the other is the Standards, Achievement and Curriculum subcommittee. You would volunteer for the one which interested you most.

Please fill in the attached form including a very short paragraph about yourself and how you could contribute. Return it to the Head teacher no later than noon on Friday 11 December 2015. You may wish to nominate another parent. Please ensure that you have their consent to put their name forward before doing so! If we have more people come forward than we have vacancies, we will hold a simple election in which parents are asked to vote anonymously.

If you want to know a bit more please contact the Head teacher.

Update on improvements to the School building and site

Demolition is expected to finish on 18 December and handover should take place on 21 December. The school entrance near the dining room will then be remodeled soon afterwards. The whole area will be securely fenced off during the Christmas holidays. The vacant area is to be seeded as our request for additional car parking has been refused by the LA.
