St Andrew’s Church, Dearnley

Date published: 15 April 2015

St George's Night at St Andrew's is always one of the biggest and best supported events on our social calendar and this year's event on April 25 will be no different.

The musical evening and Big Sing will be headed by Littleborough Brass Band.

Tickets, which include a potato pie supper, are available at £8 from Ada on 07854 703 426 or 01706 536143. A pay bar will also be available.

Next Monday night in church (April 20), starting at 7.30pm, we will have an open meeting at which we will be discussing a pastoral letter from our Bishops to all parishes ahead of the forthcoming election.

The Bishops urge us all to vote and to think in a prayerful way of the kind of society in which we want to live. Come along on Monday evening and have your say.

Our next parish lunch is on Friday, April 24. Regulars only need to contact Elizabeth if they are NOT attending, but newcomers will receive a warm welcome. Anyone intending to dine with us for the first time should contact Elizabeth as soon as possible on 376660 or 07939 491 545.

Anyone with 'Count your blessings' donations to Christian Aid is asked to get them in please before the end of this month.

Starting next Monday, and then every Monday, we have 'Little Angels', a pre-school stay and play group from 9am to 11am in the parish room. Cost is a nominal £1 for adults and 50p for children over the age of six months.

For further information ring Christine on 07766404282 or Gillian on 07887551556.

We have Sung Eucharist at 9.30am this Sunday, April 19 when the parish rota is as follows: lay assistants, J Mills, H Walker; readers, R Polley, G Kilpatrick; Intercessions, J Mills; sidespersons, M Howarth, S Harper; refreshments, Gillian K, Vera, Dorothy.

Tickets are free for a big event in Church on Saturday, May 16 (7pm) when we host a musical evening 'Saints Alive' by Roger Jones in a celebration of Pentecost with the United Christian Singers.

Donations will go to Christian Aid.
