Local Election 2018

Zulfiqar Ali

Zulfiqar Ali

Liberal Democrat Party
Central Rochdale Ward

Address
35 Leamington Street
Rochdale
OL12 0PT

Zulfiqar Ali has been a member of the Liberal Democrats for over 35 years now and is a senior and experienced politician who offers Central ward the change it needs. ‘Zulf’ has previously been councillor for Central for a fourteen year period up until 2012 (including twelve months as Mayor). Zulf said:

“My heart has always been in Rochdale and last year people from all backgrounds asked me to come back and stand in Central for them. They have seen services drop, streets conditions worsen, anti-social behaviour rise and young people being disconnected from the community-all at the same time as their Council Tax rises, staff are made redundant and Councillors award themselves a 34% pay rise. I will work hard to reverse this decline.”

If elected Zulfiqar Ali promises to:

  • Be transparent, available and confidential to all members of the community, by holding regular surgeries, being to hand on phones and social media, and acting swiftly and openly on case work for you.
  • Work to bring in any funding for affordable social housing and housing improvements.
  • Campaign to reintroduce bulky waste collection to reduce fly tipping and litter on the streets.
  • Make sure that the residents in College Bank and Lower Falinge have their voices heard and they are supported through a potentially difficult regeneration period.
  • Fight to reopen closed youth centres and community buildings that the community could take over and run themselves.
  • Fight to try and bring some of our vital services back to the Infirmary which Labour have kept quiet about over the years.

Vote for a positive change in Central on May 3rd - Vote for Zulfiqar Ali.
