Married to John, I am the mother of two daughters and have three grandsons and a granddaughter.

I worked for the NHS for 33 years originally as a ward nurse and then the next 20 years as a community health visitor working with families. Since retiring four years ago, I have thrown myself into a range of voluntary work including a position on the board of Homestart Rochdale as a trustee, supporting staff and training volunteers.

I am the branch secretary of Littleborough and District Lions club whose members work tirelessly to raise funds for local charities. I recently started a group called Young Onset Dementia Peer support group which is based at Hare Hill House in the park. This followed a successful bid, the Care Commissioning Group, to bring much needed external funds to Littleborough.

In my view, what matters to people in our community are the simple straight forward things in life that make Wardle and West Littleborough a brilliant place to live. I love the public events we have such as Remembrance Day services, The Rushbearing Festival, the Pace Egg play and the Farmers Markets.

However, there some basics we need to get right. I want decent roads and footpaths clear of dog fouling and litter and the correct number of school places for our children. Just this year, 150 secondary school children have been allocated places at Kingsway School when they pass two other high schools on the way! It’s time for an outbreak of common sense.

Wardle and West Littleborough have been under resourced for far too long, and I aim to change that.
