Dear friends,

My name is Thomas Barnes and it is my pleasure to be standing as your local UKIP candidate for North Middleton.

I am a local man having resided in the area my entire life, I attended Cardinal Langley school and have many friends who continue to live in the area. I am extremely passionate about working towards creating a safe environment for our families, for too long our community has been in managed decline, I personally find this pattern of neglect unacceptable.

The only way to prevent this downward spiral is to work towards cutting crime and anti social behaviour, we currently have far to few police officers available on the streets, yet we have seen substantial council tax increases over the past 2 years, I will fully endeavour to make it my job to ask the difficult questions if elected.

I will if elected search for possible funding to promote leisure activities for the local youth, which I believe will help with community cohesion. I wish to bring respect back to our community and make it the best possible place for our families to live.

Another passion of mine is maintaining our green spaces, I will work hard to prevent further intrusion on our cherished Green belt by examining brown fill sites for future house building.

Like me you must look around and know things have to change, let's together make a change by voting for UKIP North Middleton, ask yourself honestly ’what have you got to lose’? The same tired old parties offering the same empty promises and never delivering, we need a change, lets make it.

For too long we have been ignored by our elected representatives, overlooked and let down by those running things in the Townhall, spending our money on vanity projects in the Borough. I will make it my solemn promise that I will fight tooth and nail for the interests of this ward and you the residents.

I have worked in the rail industry for over 18 years and I know how hard it is to earn a decent wage.

Every penny counts and I'm sickened when I see the apparent self serving interest of our elected officials, already the bill for councillors allowances is approaching the £1 million pounds mark.

It seems our elected officials have conveniently forgotten that it is taxpayers hard earned money that is paying their allowances and expenses.

I will remind them at every opportunity that UKIP are committed to reducing the number of councillors by a third and will reduce expenses to levels commensurate with industry.
