Hello,
The 2024 Local Elections are important to send a message to the Conservative Government, that enough is enough, it is time to call a General Election! I have seen the devastation of continued Conservative cuts to our NHS, as a Senior NHS Nurse working in Accident and Emergency. Rochdale Borough Council has also had £180 million cut from the budget by the Tories. I want a society where my two young children and many other families can thrive in their community.
I have been your Elected Councillor since 2015 and it is a real privilege to have the opportunity to stand for re-election to represent Balderstone and Kirkholt residents on Rochdale Borough Council. Over the years, residents have seen investment in our local community:
- Balderstone Park now has the prestigious ‘Green Flag Award’ - Investment in safety with a CCTV cameras and new gates, new play equipment installed in the park, the new ‘Million Pavilion’ community room and café, the new community rugby league pitches and more plans with the new pump bike track.
- Investment in roads – I am campaigning for 20mph zones across our communities. I am working with the Highways Team to tackle potholes and identifying roads and pavements for our £6 million investment into the resurfacing program.
- Better Buses for All – Working with the Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, our communities have now taken back control of our local bus services.
- Tackling the Cost of Living Crisis – Your Rochdale Labour Council has reduced your Council Tax by 2% for a second year. This is against the national trend of the maximum increase Councils are allowed to implement.
- Safer Communities – I work closely with the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Rochdale Council Community Safety Team on ‘hotspot areas,’ whether it is an increase in burglaries, drug dealing or anti-social behaviour.
I will continue to work hard for residents of Balderstone and Kirkholt.
