Dear residents of Milkstone & Deeplish,
I am Rifat Mahmood, and I am running to represent you as your councillor in our cherished community. With 45 years of deep roots in Milkstone & Deeplish and 38 years as a businessman, I am deeply invested in our well-being and prosperity.
As a resident who has faced personal challenges, including overcoming cancer, I understand first-hand the importance of access to quality healthcare and the need for a supportive community. My journey has reinforced my commitment to serving others and advocating for the well-being of our community.
I am deeply concerned about the recent rise in street crimes, retail theft, and the alarming increase in fly tipping that are affecting the safety, security, and cleanliness of our neighbourhood. From vandalism to antisocial behaviour, the increasing instances of retail theft, and the blatant disregard for our environment through fly tipping, it's disheartening to see these issues plaguing our streets.
I have experienced first-hand the frustration of dealing with fly tipping. On numerous occasions, I have found myself personally removing full black bags dumped on our streets. There was one particularly egregious incident where I had to remove 10 bags that had been callously dumped on a small street corner. Like many of you, I am furious about this blatant disregard for our community and our environment.
What's more, I even took it upon myself, at my own expense, to hire large bins to dispose of the waste properly. It's unacceptable that residents have to bear the burden of cleaning up after others, but I couldn't stand by and wait for the council to act when our streets were in such a state of neglect.
If elected as your councillor, I will make it a priority to tackle fly tipping and improve waste management practices in Milkstone & Deeplish. I will work closely with local authorities to increase surveillance and enforcement measures, implement community education initiatives, and provide accessible resources for responsible waste disposal. Together, we can restore pride in our neighbourhood and ensure that our streets remain clean and safe for everyone.
Furthermore, healthcare accessibility and addressing street crimes remain key priorities for me. I am committed to improving access to free NHS healthcare services and enhancing police response times within our local area.
I believe that every resident deserves to feel safe, healthy, and proud of their community. Together, we can work towards building a safer, cleaner, and healthier Milkstone & Deeplish for all of us.
But I can't do this alone. I need your support and your vote in the upcoming election. Together, we can bring about the positive change that our community deserves.
