Local Election 2024

Green Party
Norden Ward

As a local resident, I want to see our Council debate and deliver fresh and sustainable approaches to address the concerns of people within Norden ward and across the whole borough.

I’m proud to stand behind our 2024 local manifesto for Rochdale ‘Greening Rochdale Borough’ and the values, policies and plans contained in it, which champions a future that our children want to see. **Please do have a read and contribute any further thoughts or suggestions you have.

Rochdale Council is being ‘left behind’ compared to neighbouring boroughs in Greater Manchester, in implementing the sustainable solutions that will benefit us all, because we haven’t yet elected a Green Party Councillor to be part of those conversations. We can always do more and we need to do better.

  • On litter: we could reduce litter and waste by introducing street bins that allow you to recycle.
  • On speeding: we could engage with local communities to redesign who and what our roads are for.
  • On housing and energy: we could reduce future energy costs by ensuring that every planning application (especially new housing developments) features sustainable heating and energy sources as standard (e.g. solar panels on roofs).

The Green Party is a party of hope, of peace and of inclusion. Nationally, the Green Party condemns warring factions across the world and calls for ceasefires in all conflicts alongside long-term solutions. Locally, we want to see a more open and democratic council who recognise that local people have good ideas and will meaningfully listen to them.

Unlike the bigger parties, we have no whipping system and can independently represent local residents. If elected, I will work within and across communities to support the transition to a more equal, sustainable, cleaner and greener future for all.

Change the conversation. Put a Green in the room on 2nd May.
