Martyn Savin

Green Party
Wardle, Shore & West Littleborough Ward

My name is Martyn Savin and I am standing for the Green Party in the Wardle, Shore and West Littleborough Ward. I am also the Green party's Parliamentary Candidate for Rochdale in the up coming General Election.

I am 65 years old and Rochdale born and bred. I am now retired, but worked in manufacturing all my life for different companies, I worked at BAE Systems as an aircraft fitter for 20 years.

I currently live in Milnrow with my wife Karen. I am also big into sport's being a season ticket holder at both Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets RLFC and an avid follower of Cricket.

I joined the Green Party because I had become very disillusioned with the two main party's, that to me have run this country into the ground over the last few decades. I believe it is time for a new way of thinking, putting the people of this country first and not the greed of the multi national companies.  You only need to look at the water companies to see that privatisation has failed.

On a local level it concerns me that people are struggling to get doctor's appointments, also the lack of NHS dentists is worrying. We as a party will be looking into ways to solve this problem and to work with the local people in all area's to find out what their grievances are on health care.

We as a party think we should be building new affordable homes in the area on derelict land and not green belt land, our green enviroment must be looked after. Also we must have proper infrastructure for any new builds, like medical care, schools and properly maintained roads.

The Greens also want to invest in decent, cheap and reliable publc transport to take congestion of our roads. Roads around the borough are a disgrace with potholes causing havoc. We will find funding to sort this prolem out.

On a final note I think its vital that we invest in future generations, therefore I think we should be investing more in schools and recreation, to my mind young people should be encouraged to participate in out of school activities like sport, music, the arts to help them with their future lives and friendships. As a party we will find funds for this so that all the burden of cost is not put on parents.

Best Wishes

Martyn Savin.
