Murder investigation: Victim named as Anne-Marie Nield

Date published: 09 May 2016

The woman who was found dead at a flat in Rochdale has been named as Anne-Marie Nield.

A murder investigation was launched on Sunday (8 May) after the 44-year-old was found dead at her home on Oldham Road.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A large police presence surrounded the building throughout yesterday including forensic teams and Crime Scene Investigation teams.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts from GMP said: “This is a tragic situation and my thoughts are with the family and friends of this poor lady. Our specially trained officers are with them and offering our support at this sad time.

“We arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of murder. We are now investigating and trying to get a full understanding of what happened.

“I want to reassure people that GMP are actively working with Rochdale Council, other partner organisations and the community at large to make sure we do all we can to support those most vulnerable in society and that we robustly tackle those who cause them harm.”

Anyone with more information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers can be contacted, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
