Superglue moron hits Heywood again

Date published: 26 October 2016

Yet more people in Heywood have had their front doors superglued shut after a spate of vandalism on Monday (24 October) across Marlor Court, Bank Street and Agincourt Street.

The dangerous vandalism has arisen just two months after Rochdale Boroughwide Housing offered a cash reward for information after more than 100 homes and garages were glued shut.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “About eight weeks ago, our doors were superglued shut. Because I own my flat, I had to pay privately for a locksmith, which cost £150 pounds.

“I’ve had to pay another £150 pounds as it’s happened again. My insurance is £100 pounds excess, so it’s pointless claiming it.

“I’m so angry because I can’t afford to pay that each time; I struggle financially as it is.

“Whoever this is is not thinking about the residents: carers couldn’t get in to one of the ladies who has been very ill. I don’t understand why no one has installed CCTV cameras.”

These comments were echoed online, with concerns of fire risks and for the safety of elderly residents.

Speaking of the latest incident, a spokesman for RBH said: “A number of homes and garages at Marlor Court, Bank Street and Agincourt Street in Heywood had superglue applied to their locks on the evening of 24 October.

“This is causing distress and great inconvenience to residents as well as considerable expense to RBH. We are working closely with the local police to identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information should contact local police on 101, or the RBH Enforcement Team on 01706 273974, or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
