Drake Street closed as ‘unsafe’ building risks falling into road
The unsafe building on Drake Street has now been assessed and work is expected to begin on securing the building in the next couple of days, says Rochdale Council.
66 Drake Street, across from the Water Street junction, has been deemed ‘unsafe’ due to a large crack in the shop façade and Drake Street has been closed since Friday (17 March) due to the empty building being at risk of falling into the road.
The closed section of road is expected to remain shut until the weekend.
A diversion is still in place and trams will continue to terminate at the railway station.
