Heywood Lions Club and 3rd/4th Ravenscroft Scout Group have thanked Heywood Morrisons and their customers for their generosity during a recent bag-packing event in store, raising £1,880.
Lion President Irene Sagar presented 3rd/4th with a cheque for £1,000 towards the cost of running the group, the remaining funds will be used by Heywood Lions Club to purchase teddy bears for the clubs Parateds and Message in a Bottle projects
Parateds are small bears given to the local ambulance service for distribution to children they come in to contact with.
Heywood Lions together with Rochdale and Littleborough Lions clubs have been donating these bears to the ambulance service for over 10 years.
Message is a Bottle is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their basic personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location, the fridge.
It saves the Emergency Services valuable time when they enter a property and treat a patient in an emergency situation.
