Castleton woman to take part in semi-finals of Miss England North beauty pageant

Date published: 29 May 2019

A woman from Castleton has landed a place in the semi-finals of Miss England North, which take place on Sunday 16 June at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre.

Giorgia Frost, 20, of Castleton, is vying for one of the 10 available places to go through to the Miss England Finals later in the year.

The contestants are judged on personality and popularity, plus community and charity work they have done.

On the day there will be interviews, photos (with a place given to the girl with most 'model potential'), sportswear round, an evening dress round and a ‘black and sparkles’ dress round.

A previous winner of Junior Miss Bolton and Bury, and a finalist of Miss Lancashire, Giorgia, who has previously taken part in four separate Miss England heats, holds a brown belt in karate and is being sponsored in the pageant by Middleton-based La Fleur Bridal.

She said: "I was thoroughly lucky for my sponsor to be a dress shop; my younger sister and I have both had our Holy Communion Dresses and year 11 prom dresses from La Fleur. They are great as a business and highly professional."

Giorgia has previously used her title as a platform to work with the British Skin Foundation to raise awareness of acne, which she has suffered with from a young age.

Giorgia has recently completed a bachelor’s degree in geography at the University of Salford and hopes to continue her studies in Geographical Information Science at the University of Manchester.

She hopes to become an air traffic controller for the National Air Traffic Services (NATS).
