Volunteers wanted for free online wellbeing sessions

Date published: 29 June 2022

Your Home Yoga is looking for volunteers to take part in free online wellbeing sessions designed specifically with carers in mind.

Throughout July, a series of 10 sessions, run by qualified and experienced yoga teachers Louise Corlett and Debbie Cumming, will incorporate gentle movement, breathing and relaxation techniques.

No special clothing or equipment is needed and participants can take part from wherever is most comfortable or convenient in their home, via Zoom.

Debbie and Louise said: “We really want to support the carers in our communities and are carrying out a research project, to find out if we can offer something to them, in their own homes, that makes a difference to their feeling of wellbeing.

“If you or someone you know are caring for a loved one or work in a caring role and would like to take some valuable time for yourself, please get in touch.

“Please also help us to reach the people who might benefit; this might be someone providing care for a grandchild, friend, partner, parent or anyone, personally or professionally.

“All we ask is for that they complete a short, simple and anonymous survey at the end of the course and/ or give us some feedback in their own words. Our ultimate aim is to be able to offer ongoing weekly sessions in the future.”

Launched during the pandemic, Your Home Yoga has been helping people across the community, with online wellbeing sessions in their own homes, since September 2020.

As well as the sessions just for carers in July, Your Home Yoga has other free classes each week that are open to everyone; two funded classes each week for men and two for chair yoga (both are inclusive and take place from a seated position- optional standing - not from the floor).

Your Home Yoga also provides a free 30-minute guided relaxation every week, plus paid weekly classes.

If you would like to attend, want more details or to discuss further, please visit www.yourhomeyoga.co.uk or please email Debbie and Louise.
