Pre-season training restarts for Rochdale Masters

Date published: 23 January 2022

The Rochdale Masters rugby club has begun pre-season training indoors at the Soccer Factory in Castleton.

The club was formed last year to encourage players aged 35+ to either get back into the sport or start playing, whilst having fun and making great memories both on and off the field.

Founder Carl Abrahams said: “Finishing its maiden season in 2021 being able to have fielded a squad of 20+ on 11 separate occasions over a four-month period is an unbelievable achievement and one that the club is very proud of.

“The club is now pushing for a bigger and better 2022 and has a group are always looking at other projects to increase participation but more importantly build relationships within our local communities.”

Through some generous funding by Action Together, the club has managed to source a winter training facility until weather and visibility allows a return to its normal training regime of meeting weekly at the home of Rochdale Mayfield.

Current training is being held at Soccer Factory (Pitch 8), Royle Barn Road, Castleton, every Friday from 6-7pm with new or old players welcome.

If you want to get involved, then please message the Facebook group, or contact Carl Abraham on abraham3287@hotmail.co.uk or 07792 826918.
