Friends of Littleborough Stations

News

Dear Friends,
Well I DID warn you - as did the RMT. Littleborough Ticket Office will eventually close and be replaced by "roving" staff with computer tablets on a part time basis, rain or shine, guiding passengers to make ticket machine or online purchases through devices ( owned by these staff, I think or on passengers' smartISH phones!)

Please see attached letter -(3 sides) and Public Consultation - 28+ sides (!). Obviously we can discuss this at our FOLS meeting on Monday night. I have already spoken to Ernie and he has put up a large notice in the display case near the defribrillator box. Please try and have a look at it over the next few days.

The consultation - well timed for July holiday makers! - is just three weeks and I urge you ALL, along with your families, friends and colleagues - and any local groups you may be in - to respond. It's FREE POST so there is no need for a stamp.

In the last four decades Littleborough has lost its high school, local council offices, clearing banks, etc and now its staffed railway ticket office is going to be closed. And yet the local population is growing.

We got access ramps at Littleborough Station because FOLS was formed and made a BIG fuss. Thanks partly also to FOLS, we now have a community rail partnership along the Calder Valley Line.

I am attending LEAF's meeting tonight and will raise the matter and distribute the Northern letter.

Thank you for your support, past, present and future.

Best wishes,

Richard Lysons
Chair,FOLS

PS The toilet pod will be installed at Littleborough so that the "roving" staff have facilities during their four hour shifts. The public will also be able to access this toilet.
