Repairs to Ashworth Road to start in April

Date published: 16 February 2018

Repairs lasting 25 weeks are to start on Ashworth Road in April.

Ashworth Road in Norden was closed to all vehicles and pedestrians in October 2017 due to wide cracks covering the entire width of the road following a landslide.

In January, slight movement in tarmac up at the top by Hurst Wood was reported and a large crack appeared in the field leading to Dobbs Wood.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Borough Council said: “An options report has been completed and design has commenced on a preferred option; additional funding will be requested at the Cabinet Meeting on 27 February, but this is not preventing overall progress on the programme.

“Initial indications are that repair will commence sometime during April 2018 with a 25 weeks contract period – which takes us through the summer months when weather conditions should be at their most favourable.
