Local Election 2012

Georgina Whitaker

Georgina Whitaker

Liberal Democrat Party
Hopwood Hall Ward

I am local resident who is married to Michael and we have two young children together.

Some of my biggest concerns for our area include:

  • Green belt land and open spaces being built on - In the last few years I have seen land poached by industrialists who seem to believe that the higher the building and the larger the area they use the better. Both they and the current local Councillors don’t realise how the standard of living of residents in that area has suffered, especially with the devaluation of their houses.
  • Junction 19 traffic problems - The area known locally as the triangle has been a massive problem for many years. And if elected I will certainly be campaigning to solve this ongoing issue.
  • School traffic/parking problems - More should be done by the Council’s Highways Department to ensure that the residents have got the first choice of parking near their own homes. Most times, parents picking their children up from school have no consideration for local resident.
  • Anti-social behaviour - I am also very concerned about the rise in anti-social behaviour problems in our area. I have two young children and I feel that more should be done by the Council and local families to help combat this problem.

I believe we need a new face in Hopwood with a new approach to the many problems we have and look forward to supporting you if elected on Thursday May 3rd.
