Labour Party
North Heywood Ward

Dear fellow Heywood residents,

We have had a difficult few years with coronavirus, and we hope that you, your family, and friends have not suffered any bereavements or ill health. If you’ve lost loved ones, I send you our most sincere thoughts and sympathies.

Working as a History Teacher in a Secondary School I know just tough it as for been for people getting used to life again after the pandemic. The task at hand is massive across all council services, from education to bin collections.

Despite the difficulties we all face, your local Labour Team of Liam O’Rourke, Bev Place and Peter Rush have still been working hard for Heywood.

  • We have introduced FREE BULKY WASTE COLLECTIONS meaning residents can get their bulky rubbish shifted without taking a hit to the pocket. We have also invested in cameras to help catch fly-tippers – who can get a huge fine of £400 and their vehicles seized and crushed if they are caught fly-tipping.
  • We have brought Highway repairs back under council control so resident priorities will always come first in FIXING ROADS AND POTHOLES.
  • We now have EXTRA FUNDING FOR HEYWOOD TOWN CENTRE instead of all the money being spent in Rochdale.
  • Likewise, we have KEPT ALL OUR LIBRARIES AND COMMUNITY CENTRES OPEN despite savage Conservative cuts.

Labour are the only party at this year’s local election in Heywood North who are standing three Heywood residents to represent the ward. We are proud to live in and work for our town that has given so much to us, and we want to deliver for Heywood.

I hope you will use three votes for Labour in the local council election so we can continue to work for our local community in Heywood.

Thank you for taking the time to read my pitch on Rochdale Online.

Kind regards,
Liam Joseph O’Rourke
