Local Election 2023

Jordan Tarrant-Short

Jordan Tarrant-Short

Conservative Party
West Heywood Ward

I am Jordan Thomas Tarrant-Short, I am a 30 year old legal consultant living on Darnhill, I was brought up in West Heywood and I really want to do something positive to make the area better, I aim to bring pride back to Heywood that people tell me has declined over recent years, I am determined to work hard to improve things in West Heywood, I hope to meet many more people in the coming weeks so I can truly listen to your concerns and ideas for a better future locally. There is a strong community spirit in Heywood and if elected I will work hard all year round to promote and enhance our community.

Litter blights our streets and our parks in West Heywood, whilst also this having a significant impact on the councils resources. Something different needs to be done.

Fly tipping in West Heywood is a problem that gets raised with me on a regular basis. Following the closure of Heywood tip, many people believe the problem has escalated. If you vote for me in this May’s local elections, I will make it my priority to tackle this issue head on, working with the Council, residents, and voluntary groups to agree on the best way forward to tidy up West Heywood and make it a place to be proud to call home.

If elected :

  • I will hold regular advise surgeries these will be conducted via street surgeries, monthly ward surgeries and remote surgeries if preferred.
  • I will work with the police and other agencies to tackle the rising antisocial behaviour and speeding issues in our town.
  • I will work with residents to identify and report roads and pavements that are in desperate need of repair.
  • I will listen to the youth of our community on how we can improve facilities for them and I feel this will go a long way to help reduce the antisocial behaviour rates.
  • I will be a strong voice for West Heywood at Rochdale Council and Heywood Township meetings.
  • I will work all year round, not just at election time.

If you’re one of those people in West Heywood who don’t vote by post, then please read on! From this year you will be asked to take a form of identification with you. This includes things like a photo bus pass, passport or driving licence. If you don’t have an acceptable form of photo ID, or are unsure about the kind of ID required, the Council’s Elections Team can help – you can contact them on 0300 303 0345 or email elections@rochdale.gov.uk

May the 4th be with you and vote for a brighter future for West Heywood and vote Jordan Thomas Tarrant-Short
