As the local Conservative Councillor for Norden ward I have really appreciated the support and co-operation which has been given to me over the years. This has enabled many improvements to be made and problems solved. Of course I am well aware that there is much still to be done in Norden, Caldershaw and Birtle, and with your support in the election I look forward to continuing to work hard with you for our area.
Thinking about the budget, here in our high Council Tax area a 1% reduction in the tax rate matters. The Liberal Democrats and Labour both wanted an increase of over 3.5%, the Conservatives proposed an increase of 2.5%, plus a rebate for the over 60's. Why don't the other parties vote for what is best for our ward?
I also want a dedicated street cleaner for our area, who knows the bad areas and deals with them.
And I don't want our Post Offices to be closed.
Neither do I want thousands of pounds spending on surveys when obvious simple measures are what people ask for.
High time that the Liberal Democrat majority goes so that we can get co-operative local government and get spending back under control.
